Sourced in France these shallots will add plenty of flavour to your next dish. Shallots are sweeter and even more versatile than onions. They're excellent pickled in sandwiches, are perfect for frying in oil and make for a crunchy topping on salads and piled raw on burgers.
Details
Shallots have a sweet and mild flavour, with a hint of garlic, and lack the bite you get with yellow or white onions. Shallots have a milder odor than onions, so are more commonly eaten raw. However, when cooked, shallots can lose their flavour quickly, and so onions are preferable in cooked food like stir fries. Onions are also crunchier than shallots.
Preparation Guidelines
Slice off either end of the onion. Peel and chop as desired.
