  1. In a jug, stir together the jallab syrup, tamarind paste, ginger juice and a squeeze of lemon juice.
  2. Fill two glasses with ice cubes. Pour over the jallab mixture and top with chilled soda water.
  3. Serve with skewers of candied ginger cubes, slivered pistachios, raisins or sultanas and edible rose petals for a modern take on the traditional look.
