Making a difference

Booja Booja has been dedicated to making vegan chocolates and ice cream since 1999. Over the last two decades, the company has worked with Kashmiri artists to create its beautiful hand-painted Easter eggs and artist collection gift boxes. In doing so, Booja Booja has helped revive the traditional papier mâché industry in Kashmir. It has also provided young artists with the opportunity to apprentice with older, skilled artists and earn a steady income.

Traditional yet renewable

Marion Butler established Chez Nous Chocolates in 1932 in Dublin’s Lad Lane. She continued to make her delicious confections by hand for the next 27 years until the company was bought by Seamus Sorenson in 1959. It continues to be run by his family till today and has expanded to a worldwide chain of cafes and a renowned line of chocolates, toffees and soft fudge. In the 1980s the company was renamed Butlers in honour of Marion. Many of its biggest-selling items, including the range in store, are now packaged with recycled and reusable materials.

“The majority of our Easter range this year has come from the UK and Australia. We have gone big on brands that we know our customers love such as Cadbury Mini Eggs and Crème Eggs. Orange is a big flavour for us this year and we have a huge range of brands playing into this trendy profile such as Dairy Milk, Malteasers and of course Terry’s Chocolate Orange. We have also focused on bringing some special exclusive one-off piece’s ideal for gifting – lookout for the Booja Booja hand-painted vegan eggs, the Cocoa Libre vegan- and nut-free eggs and the Love Cocoa gifting eggs created by James Cadbury, the great great-great-grandson of John Cadbury, the founder of Cadbury”. ~Joanne Black, Category Manager

Alternate tastes

Cocoa Libre has come a long way from its beginnings in a home kitchen that was catering to two little boys who developed an intolerance to dairy. The company now has an allergen-free facility in North Somerset, where it creates exquisite chocolates that are vegan, gluten- and nut-free. Cocoa Libre’s ‘milk’ chocolate is made from high-quality rice milk, which it considers a more sustainable option than dairy. Cocoa Libre’s orange chocolate egg has been handcrafted and is a fantastic gift option.
