The cooler nights may be on the way but there's still nothing better than breaking out the snacks and treats and enjoying some guilt-free down time in front of the television. The kids are back at school, which might even mean a cheeky hour over lunchtime - just imagine! Netflix announced a jam packed line up this month with a huge emphasis on original series, which, as lockdown taught many of us, are always worth a watch.

Away (September 4) has to top the list this week. Loosely inspired by Chris Jones’ Esquire article of the same name, it's an epic love story and a thrilling tale of survival set against humanity’s greatest endeavour - the first human mission to Mars. Emma Green is an American astronaut who must leave her husband and teenage daughter behind in order to command an international space crew embarking upon a treacherous, year-long mission. Away is a series about hope, humanity and how ultimately, we need one another if we are to achieve impossible things.

The gift S2 (September 10) is a fantastic new series that follows the life of Atiye, a young and beautiful painter who leads the perfect life in Istanbul. She has a loving family, a wealthy and lovable boyfriend, and to top it all off, she is about to open her first solo exhibition. But her perfect life is about to change with a discovery made in the most ancient temple on Earth, Göbekli Tepe. An archeologist named Erhan, discovers a symbol in the ruins, a symbol that connects Atiye to Göbekli Tepe in a very mysterious way. And now, Atiye will turn her life upside down and spark a quest to discover the secrets of her past, secrets hidden within those ancient ruins.

Fancy a bit of laughter? Tune in and catch the upcoming comedy show Felipe Esparza: Bad Decisions (September 1). Filmed in Santa Ana, California as two separate performances – one in English and one in Spanish – the specials showcase Esparza’s edgy style of humour as the perfect vehicle to weave through difficult anecdotes of his childhood and mistakes in his adult life with ease. Another great watch is Afonso Padilha: Alma de Pobre (September 3).
